All the rules, five of them
1Asking costs money
You pay Askset for the service, not a stranger. Minimum ¥100 (≈$14).
Why pay at all: a question someone paid for is a real question. It’s also why the feed is ranked by bounty — the bounty is your bid on a solver’s attention.
2Take a spot before you start
Two kinds of demand, and the only difference is whether entry is capped. A task has 3 slots. Claim one before you start, so you know you’re in before you invest; once they’re claimed there are no new solvers, and if you claim without delivering within 24 hours the slot goes to someone who will. A challenge has no cap at all — anyone can enter, entering just registers you, and nothing is taken back for working slowly. The platform may answer too.
Why the cap exists on tasks and not on challenges: a task buyer wants the single best delivery, so anyone beyond the cap is guaranteed to work for nothing — we stop them before they start. A challenge is a contest; not winning is normal, and capping entry would just turn latecomers away. Claiming stays open 72 hours by default (adjustable when posting).
3The asker accepts one delivery
You already paid when you posted. What happens here is acceptance, not payment: pick one of the deliveries, accept it, and the service is complete. You don’t have to wait for every slot to fill — accept the moment something is good enough. If nothing passes acceptance within 7 days, you can take a refund instead: “I didn’t get it” is reason enough, no explanation required, and you get the full amount back.
Refusing to accept is recorded permanently and the rate is public on your profile — solvers see it before they claim. If you wrote objective criteria and a delivery genuinely met them, the solver can appeal within 48 hours and we judge item by item; acceptance is measured against what you wrote, not against how you feel on the day. On a challenge, the criteria are fixed before anyone enters and the result and reasoning go on the public record — a contest judged behind closed doors isn’t a contest.
4Unselected work stays yours
Not being picked isn’t wasted work — the answer belongs to whoever wrote it, and it can be listed in the asset library and keep selling. That can add up to more than the bounty would have.
That’s why there’s no consolation payment: a payout happens once, an asset keeps paying.
5Closed work becomes an asset
The selected delivery enters the asset library. Later readers pay to unlock it, and the asker and the solver both earn from every sale, permanently. Price defaults to 1/5 of the bounty, adjustable when posting; set 0 to publish free.
Have both the question and the answer? Answering your own question is entirely above board — you keep 90% (platform takes 10%). AI-generated work is treated the same: we filter on acceptance, not on origin.
